Alapala Machine Industry and Trade Inc. which is one of the leading companies in the turn-key grain processing systems, was contracted by Olam International to carry out this prestigious project. The contract involved the complete supply of state of the art flour mill, with a capacity 500 tons per 24 hours of wheat and its engineering, pre-engineered steel building for the mill and storage silos with a capacity of 40, 000 tons of wheat.

The complete project was completed and handed over in a record time of 8 months from the date of the completion of the building foundations.

The new wheat milling facility is a stepping stone to Olam’s long-term strategy in Ghana, at a cost of $55 million. Olam Ghana employs over 500 people, increasing to nearly 1,500 in the next 3 years, of whom 100 will be employed at the new wheat facility. The production capacity of the plant is 115,000 metric tonnes of flour production per annum.
